Welcome to
Larkfield, a beautiful
Chambres d'hôte
(Bed and Breakfast) built in the early
nineties, we are just
off of the main A75
'toll free', motorway from Clermont Ferrand
to Bezier (there is now a small toll for the viaduct at
Millau but this is worth paying just for
the experience let alone the time saved, it can be bypassed). We are then very easy to find being between Soubes & the A75,
less than a kilometre from the
autoroute junction 52.
The village is also under an hours drive from Montpellier international
airport with cheap flights from both Ryan Air (Stansted) and Flybe
(Gatwick). We are only 1.5 motorway hours from the Spanish
border where there is cheap
shopping, just off the motorway. Larkfield is a good stop off point on a road trip to
Spain. The same autoroute
makes transit to the coast much quicker, the nearest beach is now just 35
minutes away by A75.
We overlook the small historic village of Soubes. For better amenities the historic town of Lodève is only 5 km away with restaurants, supermarkets and petrol stations. The Region has much to offer and the nearby coast is one of the best anywhere. We will be pleased to give advice when we know your interests. We have a truly exceptional restaurant nearby "Le temps de vivre", The Chef learnt his trade in a 3 star Michelin restaurant in Montpellier.

Outside is a large landscaped, garden with lots of fruit trees. Figs, apricot, pear and apple are just a few. There are plenty of trees at the top of the garden for shade when it gets a bit too hot. The large terraced space outside the house has an eating area with a barbeque. The views are amazing at all times of the year and day (or night) from the house, garden, pool and terrace. There is plenty of secure off road parking. |

The private and secluded, salt
water (much better than chlorine as it does not irritate skin or eyes, the salt level
is
much lower than the sea, about 10% of the salinity of the sea and hardly noticeable), mosaic swimming pool measures
4 x 10 metres so you can actually
swim in it. It has a wide tiled
surround for sunbathing, a further barbeque and an independent pump house with
outside shower. Sun loungers are provided plus table and chairs to take drinks
and food, we supply plastic
plates and glasses to give added safety for all.
Towels may be taken to the pool but we request that you do not take them to the
beach as they can get stained. The pool is fenced and gated for child
safety reasons and for their safety we ask you to keep the gate closed if no
adult is present. Lighting, even underwater, is provided for balmy summer
evenings. Swimming in the evening after a warm day is especially pleasant as the
water feels very warm and the air is still warm when you get out. Even if you do not wish to swim the views make it a nice place to sit.
A bubble cover has been added last summer (2006) to hold the heat in
overnight so raising the daytime temperature.

Optional English Breakfasts, Evening Meals and Packed Lunches can be provided. These can be taken in your room, the terrace or the upstairs dining room.
In summer we can offer a barbecue either by the house or the pool.

Larkfield is suitable all year round for those interested in the historical and cultural sights. We have spent some wonderful times at the 'Fête du Saint Sylvestre' (new year), in the area. In winter you can often sit in sunshine at Larkfield and watch snow up at the Larzac Plateau. Last Christmas (2006) we had a barbecue one lunch time in shirtsleeves.
